Kon Plong District: Promoting the Consumption of Specialty and OCOP Products Linked to Tourism Activities

In recent years, the development of specialty products and OCOP products in the district has achieved positive results. With various synchronized solutions, the development of these products has significantly contributed to the growth of tourism in Kon Plong District.

Kon Plong has great potential for agricultural development and is home to many famous specialty products such as high-tech agricultural products, cold-climate coffee, honey, forests, red brown rice noodles, cordyceps, wild tea, and forest pepper. Recognizing the district's potential advantages, the Kon Plong District People's Committee has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, relevant sectors, and local authorities to actively implement the "One Commune, One Product" program, considering it an important solution for both agricultural development and the socio-economic growth of the district. The focus is on enhancing the quality of key agricultural products in line with the region's strengths, promoting the production of agricultural and non-agricultural goods and services, forming product value chains, and developing key products for both domestic and international markets.

Currently, Kon Plong District has several distinctive products and 72 OCOP products. Among them, 63 OCOP products have achieved 3-star ratings at the district level, 5 products have earned 4-star ratings at the provincial level, and 4 products did not participate in re-evaluation. Many of the district's OCOP products have not only developed strongly in the local area but have also expanded to markets within the province and region, including high-tech agricultural products such as Japanese pumpkins, cabbage, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, cold-climate Mang Den coffee, Dong Quai root powder, fermented honey, fermented fruit juice, and fermented cordyceps powder, among others. These products have shown significant positive changes in quality, packaging, labeling, and traceability.

In addition, the district has focused on promoting and introducing its distinctive products and OCOP products in connection with tourism activities. Every year, the district People's Committee directs the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Economic Infrastructure, and the District's Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Center to cooperate with businesses and local households in participating in tourism promotion programs across various provinces and cities nationwide. Here, visitors can choose products from the district as souvenirs. This initiative helps encourage local people to actively maintain and enhance the value of agricultural products, produce goods linked to the region's strengths, and focus on commodity production to increase product value.

Building on the results achieved, in the coming time, Kon Plong District will develop agricultural products through value chains to continuously improve the productivity and quality of its distinctive products and OCOP products, meeting the increasing demands of consumers. The district will strengthen activities to promote and introduce its specialty and OCOP products, linking them with tourism and services. This will contribute to increasing incomes, improving the living standards of local people, and promoting the socio-economic development of the district./.
