The Songwriting Competition Honoring the Victories of Mang But and Mang Den in Completely Liberating Kon Plong District, 2024

The "Songwriting Competition Praising the Victory of Mang But, the Victory of Mang Den, and the Complete Liberation of Kon Plong District" in 2024 is organized to promote and advertise the image, culture, potential, and strengths of the land and people of Kon Plong. Through this, the competition aims to enhance public cultural and artistic activities in Kon Plong district, providing opportunities for individuals, especially local creative talents, to showcase their abilities and exchange experiences in songwriting.

The "Songwriting Competition Praising the Victory of Mang But, the Victory of Mang Den, and the Complete Liberation of Kon Plong District" in 2024 aims to select outstanding compositions that reflect the unique historical, cultural, economic, political, and social characteristics of Kon Plong District. The chosen songs will be officially used in information and communication activities, introductions, and promotions of the district's development potential to both domestic and international friends. Additionally, they will serve the political, economic, cultural, social, security, and defense tasks of Kon Plong District.

The competition is required to be organized professionally, seriously, tightly, objectively, and in accordance with the law. The compositions need to meet the requirements and regulations of the Organizing Committee in terms of both quantity and quality. The songs should accurately reflect the cultural identity of Kon Plong homeland. Composers are encouraged to create songs with beautiful, concise, and emotional lyrics that are easy to remember and learn, have high artistic value, and are close to the lives of the people. The songs should have a folk music influence and praise the victory of Mang But and Mang Den, celebrating the complete liberation of Kon Plong District.

Timeframe for Launching and Concluding the Competition:

  • Deadline for Submission: No later than August 15, 2024.
  • Judging and Evaluation Period: From August 16 to August 30, 2024, with specific details to be announced by the Organizing Committee.
  • Summary and Award Ceremony: Expected in October 2024.

Eligibility: Participants must be Vietnamese citizens (those with Vietnamese nationality, living, studying, and working in Vietnam) with the ability to compose music. This includes all authors, professional and amateur musicians, members of songwriting clubs, and the general public living and studying in the district and within and outside Kon Tum province. Members of the Organizing Committee, the Jury, and the Secretariat are not allowed to participate in the competition but may submit works in support of the event. High-quality submissions from these members may be recommended by the Jury for special awards but will not be included in the main prize structure.

Content Requirements for Submitted Works:

  • Highlight the nation's thousand-year history, emphasizing the industrious, creative spirit in labor and the bravery in combat to build and defend the country. The Vietnamese people have fostered a tradition of unity, benevolence, resilience, and indomitability, specifically within the context of Kon Plong district.

  • Songs should reflect the cultural identity of Kon Plong homeland, featuring beautiful, concise, and emotional lyrics that are easy to remember and learn. They should have high artistic value and be close to the lives of the people, with a folk music influence. The compositions should recount the history, formation, and development of the district, marking significant achievements of the district's military and civilian efforts in liberating Mang Den, Mang But, and the complete liberation of Kon Plong district (October 12, 1974 - October 12, 2024).
